Christmas/New Year’s Outfits for Men and Women – feat. Nate

5 more days until Christmas; can you believe it? And 11 more days until those New Year’s Eve parties begin. Holiday parties are the best time of the year to showcase your best style, whether it be formal, extravagant, or classy. Nate and I went for a more classy-vintage look:Image

He just got his film camera working – a great accessory by the way ๐Ÿ™‚

Regarding men’s fashion: Collared shirts with cardigans are the way to go. Add a bow tie for some extra class and unique-ness. You can find bow ties of any patterns on Etsy – it’s basically the men’s version of a statement necklace.

As for me, I think houndstooth is the perfect pattern for a holiday party – it’s very much a winter pattern. Houndstooth usually comes in black in white, but I went for a beige houndstooth skirt to add warmth to the outfit. If I just wore black and white, the overall tone would come off as cold. To make the skirt the highlight of this outfit, I wore black everywhere else.

Image

I especially love wearing black tights with black shoes. They merge into one and just have a really ย chic appearance.

I look way too happy in this next one.

Finals Week Fashion: OOTD

Finals Week Fashion: OOTD

In a finals week slump? Have you reached the point where you can no longer remember the last time you showered because your days and nights have been spent cooped up at the library, wearing the same outfit of sweats and sweatshirt? When you realize that you’ve been in the library for so long you’re not sure what time it is, nor what day…

As for Waing, her solution to relieving this mood of “I’m such a mess. Finals finals finals…” is by dressing up. It may not actually improve your study habits, but at least you’ll feel better while you cram, and you won’t be as embarrassed to go out in public. Not speaking from personal experience…

This outfit it perfect for those with warm-winters. A summer maxi skirt still keeps your legs warm while looking stylish, and long-sleeve crop tops are all the rave this winter. Choose a lace crop-top if you don’t need the insulation. While summer prints may be hard to wear this season, try pairing them up with dark solid colors. If this doesn’t work – put those summer clothes away! You don’t need them!

Good luck on finals everyone!

Girls’ Night Out – Holiday Shopping

Unless you’re the type of person who does their holiday shopping mid-summer, the mad rush of shopping has just begun. Stores are preparing for the notorious Black Friday and Cyber Monday, malls are playing the Carol of the Bells, and Bath and Body Works has all their Christmas scents lined up. There is a sort of hype in the air; an excitement, a warmth. If you plan on participating in the chaos that is Black Friday, or leftover Saturday, take some friends along, and dress up! Here are two outfit ideas for a girls’ night out of holiday shopping:

Image

First and foremost: wear comfortable shoes. I prefer my combat boots. In addition, I am wearing one of my favorite summer dresses turned fall with my cut-out black tights and burnt orange cardigan. To add that touch of class, I am wearing my pearl necklace (always does the trick). Rebecca is wearing this great maroon and dark navy top from Target, black leggings, a gold collar necklace, and a gold dragon ear-cuff.

So there you have it: two different takes on fall outfits. I hope this is of some inspiration for the holidays ๐Ÿ™‚

OOTD: November 8th

I’m feeling a little under the weather today, so to counteract the sniffles, I’m dressing it up – casually. I kind of wear a lot of black during the fall and winter. A lot. So it’s no surprise that that is what I turned to in my closet this morning. Here is the result. Happy Friday!

College Fashion – Twerk Team Sorority Fashion Shoot

As promised, here is the long awaited suite photo shoot! Huge thanks to all these lovely ladies who let me play photographer ๐Ÿ™‚

Image

We call ourselves the Twerk Team Sorority. The theme for this photo shoot is Girls Night Out.

First up we have Palak sporting light pastels for an overall casual, yet cutesy look. The grey wedge heels make this look appropriate for a nice dinner out at let’s say… BJ’s!

Image

Next we have Maxine, pulling off my dream outfit. Here we have all the fall essentials displayed at once: the black circle skirt, a beret/beanie, stockings, black boots, and a long sleeve crop top. Black and maroon are worn best during the fall.

Image

Again with black and maroon, we have Christina also sporting a black circle skirt (I’m telling you – a must have). Circle skirts are best worn with either a cropped top or by tucking the top into the skirt.

Image

Next we have Alyssa wearing all dark navy blue – another great color for fall if you’re not into the whole maroon palette. I remember when tucking in shirts was regarded as dorky, but now it is very fashionable with the styles they are coming out with today.

Image

If you live in SoCal, it’s still pretty warm here. No need for heavy coats or many layers. Here we have Rebecca wearing a patterned dress suitable for most any season, but toned down by a black cardigan.

Image

Let’s take a moment to appreciate the craftsmanship of this waterfall braid (done by Waing, bow added by Cindy).

Image

Next we have Cindy, looking cute as ever in a beautiful flowered top from Forever 21. You can never go wrong with neutrals and black pumps – stay classy.

Image

And now we have Waing, pulling off a black laced romper (I am so jealous). Like I said, it’s still pretty warm in SoCal, but as long as you stay with dark colors, you can still incorporate summer clothes into your fall closet.

Image

Here is yet another example of combining summer wear with fall wear. Here is Christina pairing white lace shorts with a warm-toned sweater and neutral flats. She is not usually this serious.

Image

And now for Natalie (who I think looks likes Anna Kendrick). She looks absolutely adorable in this 50’s themed blue dress with cutouts, and curled ringlets.

Image

Is that the black circle skirt you’ve been blogging about in every single post lately, you ask? Yes, yes it is. You must wear it every single day! I do.

Image

Phew that was a long post. Surely that counts for an entire month of blogging! I hope you enjoyed. Comment down below which outfit is your favorite!

Leopard Dress

Leopard Dress

I have always been skeptical about animal prints, until very recently when I noticed nice ensembles involving leopard print on Pinterest. I’ve been on the lookout, and now I’ve found my match. It’s a lightweight, casual leopard print dress, perfect for throwing over a black bandeau. Not to mention it has pockets! I know it’s a bit more summer appropriate, but I can see it being turned into a fall outfit. For instance, add some black tights, boots, and a jacket, and wallah! The beige and black of the pattern is an easy transition from summer to fall.

Getting Ready for Fall

Getting Ready for Fall

As made obvious by my wardrobe, I am far more prepared for Fall than any other season. I’m not sure how that happened, but I’m just more drawn to Fall fashion than anything else. Another thing I’m obsessed with? Boots. When the temperature starts to drop, I wear these nearly every day.

Also, I am not a jeans person. They just feel so uncomfortable compared to leggings and skirts/dresses! So, I dressed up this look with my black circle skirt (which I honestly think looks better with leggings than without). On top I am wearing a light pink tank top with a cropped, knitted cardigan that has pink accents. And that is all! Details will be provided below.

I hope this provides some inspiration for the Fall! Please comment below if you have any requests and/or feedback. Thanks!

Dinner Date Outfit

Dinner Date Outfit

I have a dinner date with the Natester tonight. I can’t seem to make these last couple hours go by faster, so I decided to do a little OOTD post for fun. We agreed to be formal, but I didn’t want to be over the top. I consider this outfit very business casual actually. It’s great for those occasions that are right on the borderline of casual and formal; it’s the perfect transition.

The black pencil skirt I am wearing is the main component of this outfit – it can dress anything up. On top I am wearing a sheer navy blue top with small lime green polka dots (underneath is a black tank top). And my shoes: short heels are essential for completing the semi-formal look. Dressy but not fancy.

On my wrist I am wearing this antique-looking watch that my grandpa got for me at a garage sale. It’s a little cracked, but I think it just adds a little character. I am also wearing my Pandora bracelet (with two charms). On my nails is Lightning by L.A. Colors.

Hope you enjoyed. Please comment below if you think I should do more OOTD’s! Don’t forget to follow me by WordPress, e-mail (in the side bar), or by:

Black Circle Skirt

We all know about the circle skirt (a.k.a. skater skirt) fad. Not to sound like a hipster, but I had actually already bought a circle skirt at a hand-me-down shop without knowing its trendy connotations. I just thought, “Hey, a nice black skirt in good condition. Everybody needs a black skirt.” Now I see this type of skirt all over the internet; needless to say I am very happy I made that purchase.

In the picture below, I combined my subtly pleated black circle skirt with a lacy floral top, which I tucked in. To create a contrast with the formality of the outfit, I laced on a pair of Converse.

Here are some close-ups. The necklace I am wearing is from France – my mom got it for me from a trip she went on a couple years ago.

I absolutely love the detailing of the necklace. I think it can add a touch of vintage to any outfit.

That is all for now. Have a great 4th of July tomorrow!

Southwestern Style

Southwestern Style

Part 3 of Target haul. I have a confession to make: the only wallet I have ever bought for myself was from a garage sale – when I was still in elementary school. Sure, I’ve gotten wallets for Christmas, my birthday, etc., but I have always avoided the hassle of spending my own money on one. For the past couple of years, I have just been working through the same out-dated rotation of wallets strewn over my closet floor. But not anymore. Congratulations to myself, I have moved a step further in life.

This wallet was only $12.99, along with many other different types and styles of wallets at Target. I was drawn to the Southwestern style and design, which is generally rare for me even though I come across it all the time. And that is the end of the Target haul! Up next: La Jolla shopping haul (and maybe some vacation pictures).
