Half a Week in Outfits

Alright, here we go. Getting back into the blogging habit. I thought I’d just show you my outfits for the past 3 days, which progressively got warmer and warmer. For Wednesday’s outfit, I was definitely feeling a more dressy outfit with dark colors to compliment the overcast and foggy weather. These are the best pictures I took of my sleep deprived self – I hadn’t had my coffee yet.

On top I am wearing this very loose and flowy shirt – it’s basically a circle skirt but with sleeves. I love wearing this because of the variety of ways you can drape it over your torso. On bottom I’m wearing a simple grey sweater skirt thats form fitting, so as to contrast with the looseness of my top. And then I’m just wearing sheer black tights and black flats, because I feel like sweater skirts/dresses look much better against tights than against bare legs. Over everything I am wearing a beige trench coat, and leaving it unbuttoned so that the outfit can peek through.

Wednesday afternoon, I was fortunate to stumble upon a thrift sale table that was using the proceeds to pay for a service trip to Honduras.

I left with two items: A ruffled, light-pink chiffon blouse, and high waisted black shorts. The next day, I made an outfit out of them:

I really love the buttons on the shorts, and I had the perfect light-green jean jacket to go with the top. I went for a very springy, soft toned look, and kept it as simple as possible.

On to today, I was going for a more grungy, sophisticated look, if you can use both those words in one sentence. Also, I’m patting myself on the back for making my ear look like a solar system. Or at least that’s how I see it…

Β Image

On top I am wearing a purple, acid-wash t-shirt from Cotton On, and dark wash skinny jeans which I rolled up. I am really loving acid-wash right now – it makes the material so soft, and adds a minimal amount of grunge to an outfit. I wanted to keep this outfit simple as well, so I wore a gold leaf necklace from Aerie, and for styling purposes, a brown faux leather jacket.

Thanks for reading! Stay tuned for more outfits of the day!

Preppy OOTD

Preppy OOTD

Not sure where I got the motivation from to actually dress up on a Saturday, but it happened. Also, I rarely dress preppy; but I wanted to try this new black and white chevron skirt I got for Christmas. I really love nautical colors, so over a simple black tank top I am wearing a thrifted navy blue cardigan, fastened with a coral pink belt.

I’m not big on chevron, but I really like the way this skirt falls so that it makes the pattern overlap. So there you have it, my OOTD πŸ™‚

Urban Flower: OOTD

Urban Flower: OOTD

I know the majority of us avoid wearing the skinny jeans, and instead go for leggings; but sometimes that dark denim really makes an outfit. I think skinny jeans look especially good with flowy tops and minimal shoes. In this case, I paired them with a loose floral top from Urban Outfitters, maroon Pesaro ankle booties, and a vintage pearl necklace.

I think this outfit gives off a chic, urban chick vibe! I wore a brown leather jacket on top, but forgot to take a picture. Overall, it’s a pretty simple outfit to put together, and it makes me feel a lot more confident going about my business.

Have a great Friday night πŸ™‚

Spring Outfits: Tribal print, Florals, and Pastels!

Today I’d like to share some key pieces for the spring! Starting off, we have tribal prints. I personally love this style, mostly because of how versatile it is. Tribal print has made it’s way through every season, and I have a hunch that it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. As winter progresses into spring, here is how you can continue wearing tribal prints:

Image

Fold up your tribal print cardigans and sweaters and add some bright printed skirts and dresses to your wardrobe! These are great items that’ll last their way through summer and fall.

Next item: Florals. I love anything with flowers on it, and I can see this coming spring season exploding in a flower craze. For now, start with simple patterns like this here top Maxine is wearing:

Onto Pastels! Pastels are no doubt going to remain a spring staple for a long time, so no hurt in getting some now! Here is a potential Valentine’s Day outfit:

Can I just say that this turquoise/teal color is my all time favorite color. And mixed with white lace – perfect!

That is all! Comment below which outfit is your favorite πŸ™‚

Winter Outfits!

Because it just refuses to snow here in the Southwest, here are some warm-weather winter outfits, featuring returning model Paige:

I absolutely love this combination of tan high-waisted skinnies with a black daisy print top. It’s a great transition into spring, yet is reminiscent of fall and winter.

Added some hipster filter to that one.

Looking perfect as always πŸ™‚

As for me, I like to bundle up with my royal blue peacoat in the winter. I especially love colored peacoats – they add a great touch of color to any winter outfit.

Underneath, I was a black cat πŸ™‚

As you can probably tell, I am really big on the cat trend.

Christmas/New Year’s Outfits for Men and Women – feat. Nate

5 more days until Christmas; can you believe it? And 11 more days until those New Year’s Eve parties begin. Holiday parties are the best time of the year to showcase your best style, whether it be formal, extravagant, or classy. Nate and I went for a more classy-vintage look:Image

He just got his film camera working – a great accessory by the way πŸ™‚

Regarding men’s fashion: Collared shirts with cardigans are the way to go. Add a bow tie for some extra class and unique-ness. You can find bow ties of any patterns on Etsy – it’s basically the men’s version of a statement necklace.

As for me, I think houndstooth is the perfect pattern for a holiday party – it’s very much a winter pattern. Houndstooth usually comes in black in white, but I went for a beige houndstooth skirt to add warmth to the outfit. If I just wore black and white, the overall tone would come off as cold. To make the skirt the highlight of this outfit, I wore black everywhere else.

Image

I especially love wearing black tights with black shoes. They merge into one and just have a really Β chic appearance.

I look way too happy in this next one.

Okay, so I’m not actually celebrating finals, but there’s still time to celebrate fall! As a completely undeserved study break, I decided to do a quick photo shoot with my roommate Cindy. She is stellar at taking photos – especially when I have no idea how to pose. So here is my outfit of the day:
