Thrift Shopping with Nate!

Today Nate and I decided to have a romantic date at our local thrift shop. Though thrift shopping has become a popular conquest to get that vintage look, the task at hand is a lot harder than it is made out to be. Many a time I have left a thrift shop empty handed – people threw this stuff out for a reason. Or, I have run into shops that price their goods way too high for what they are worth. I am a very particular shopper – a very stubborn bargain shopper. Too picky for my own good – but today’s little adventure turned out great. Here are our spoils:

For a grand total ofโ€ฆ$7!

Immediately upon walking in the store, I spotted these shoes for Nate – classy eh? $5.

This was also my doing – probably the first time I have ever found a bow tie in a thrift shop. I always have a difficult time shopping for a simple, self-tie bow tie, thrift shop or not. $1

And finally, Nate magically found me a polaroid camera. How he did, I don’t know. But I love it. It just needs film and batteries – I can’t wait to actually start using it ๐Ÿ™‚ $1.

And that is all! A successful thrift shopping experience ๐Ÿ™‚

La Jolla Spree

La Jolla Spree

Recently I was in La Jolla, CA, and if you have ever been there, you would know that there is great shopping downtown. Saving for school being my highest priority right now, I could not go crazy with the shopping. Me being a thrifty shopper, I still found a way to come home with something! The dress is from Ross (not from downtown, but in a different area of La Jolla) and I got it for a whopping $5.99. The necklace and earring set, however, I got from a store called Georgiou in downtown. It was $22, so that was my single splurge.

If you are ever in the area, I would recommend going to Georgiou. It is a little expensive, but they were having a buy one get one half off sale when I was there. They have very classy, yet casual clothing. I spent a lot of time in Francesca’s as well, but the prices could not satisfy my thrifty nature. A close-up of the necklace and earrings will come up soon.

Stripes and Florals

Stripes and Florals

Mixing patterns is risky business. Not really, but you have to do it right. Stripes and florals are usually pretty safe, just make sure to keep the stripes a dark/neutral color (like black and white/gray) and the floral print colorful. The world will not implode, I promise.

P.S. I completely forgot to mention this, but the skirt is from Rue 21, and the long-sleeve… a hand-me-down.
